The best is a raised 1st floor with no neighbors under you imo still get good natural light no people peeking in your windows easily since they re above eye level you can walk around as late as you want without worrying about pissing off anyone living below you moving and bringing in groceries is a breeze with so few stairs.

I currently live in a third floor unit which also happens to be the top floor of the building.
I ve lived on the first floor in two different buildings one in astoria and one in upper manhattan.
